After years of working in the weight loss industry, attending countless obesity conferences and reading thousands of research papers and diet books, I have come to the conclusion that one critical discovery made way back in the 19th century could be the cause of today's obesity problem in North America. The minute you ask a scientist or a weight loss guru "what's the key to losing fat?" nutritionism rears its ugly head. Obscure terms like "Thermic Effect of Food", "Glycemic Index", and exact percentages of protein and carbohydrate are thrown at you in a blind "nutritionism" rant.
